I began taking part in crossfit classes to help me with strength and conditioning for MMA fights. In 2011 I was involved in a near death work incident, being burnt over 10 percent of my body due to a explosion at work. I worked for a ethanol producer. I was flown by helicopter to Iowa city,Ia burn unit. While there I was told by doctors that there was a chance I would not ever be able to fully extend my arm due to tightening in the skin at the elbow joint.
The day I was released from the hospital I began doing push ups, air squats, and lunges in my living room. I refused to be impaired because of an accident.
Since my accident I have made a full physical recovery and been told by many doctors and professionals the only thing that saved my life and allowed me to recover so quick was my physical fitness.
From that accident I never looked back, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to teach Crossfit.
I received my Level 1 certification in august of 2011 and have been coaching crossfit ever since.
